While you probably can’t take a dip in a lake or river everyday this summer, you can feel the smooth and delightful sensation of river stones beneath your feet every time you shower thanks to this clever DIY project.
With a pile of smooth stones, some 5-minute epoxy glue, and a cheap floor mat, you can easily make this nature-inspired bathroom accessory for under $10. Crafter Lidy Dipert shared her easy-to-follow tutorial on Curbly, which shows you how to create your own mat in just one afternoon.
Before getting started, customize the size of the mat to match the proportions of your bathroom, and choose rocks in colors that complement your bathroom decor. Browns and reds feel more rustic, blacks and whites will appear more modern, and whites and beiges are the perfect complement for shiplap-covered spaces.
Or, go ahead and make several mats and use them for various purposes all over your home. Put one in your mudroom to collect excess dirt or water from guests’ shoes before they enter your home. Or better yet, place one by your garden hose and use it as an outdoor foot-washing station—perfect for littles ones who like to run around the yard barefoot. Not up for a DIY project?
